U.S. SEC Considers Short-Term Crypto Oversight Framework

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is considering a short-term crypto oversight framework to allow firms to continue innovating while the agency develops a more permanent solution for digital asset regulation. During a Friday event at the agency’s Washington headquarters, interim Chairman Mark Uyeda suggested that a time-limited, conditional exempt relief framework for registrants and non-registrants could foster greater innovation with blockchain technology within the United States. This framework would serve as a temporary measure while the SEC works on a long-term regulatory solution.
